Run을 '달리다'로만 아시면 사용할 경우가 매우 한정되지요.

Run(ran, run)에는 by, into, across, through, out of 등 다양한 전치사가 붙어 엄청 여러 의미로 쓰입니다

1,”I’m so glad I ran into you.(=bump into)"

(이렇게 우연히 만나서 무척 반가워요)

2,"We ran into some problems"

(우리에게 문제가 좀 생겼어요)

3,"I ran across an interesting article the other day"

(저번에 우연히 흥미로운 기사를 발견했어요)

4,"I have never run across anyone quite like you"

(지금까지 당신같은 사람은 만나본 적이 없어요)

5,"Let's run this by him first"

(이것을 먼저 그에게 보여주고 조언을 구하지요)

6,"I'm sorry for being late. My meeting ran late"

(늦어서 미안해요. 미팅이 늦게 끝나서요)

"Sorry, I'm late. Class ran long"

(늦어서 미안해요. 수업이 늦게 끝났어요)

7,"Let's quickly run through the list"

(목록을 재빨리 훑어봅시다)
